085210-000000-0000001 Scope
1.1 These requirements cover factory fabricated, pre-engineered aboveground, horizontal container systems intended for dispensing LP-Gas into other ASME or DOT containers in outdoor locations. LP-Gas is as defined in the Standard Specification for Liquefied Petroleum (LP) Gases, ASTM D1835. These systems are contained on a common base or skid and are intended for outdoor use only.
1.2 Container systems are limited to a container liquid capacity of 1200 gallons (4543 L) and are intended to operate at a maximum container pressure of 250 psig (1.7 MPag).
1.3 Container systems are evaluated in accordance with the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Code, NFPA 58. All wiring and electrical utilization equipment provided as part of the container system is evaluated in accordance with the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70.
1.4 These requirements do not cover the following:
a) Tank systems utilizing underground tanks or remote-located tanks;
b) Tank systems intended to be installed and used in bulk plants;
c) Tank systems intended for marine or aircraft refueling;
d) Tank systems intended to be used with a motor generator;
e) Tank systems intended for use inside buildings;
f) Tank systems intended to dispense fuel by gravity feed;
g) Field installed items such as emergency shut off devices, field installed sumps, field piping, field wiring, islands, or protective bollards (posts);
h) Tank foundations or anchoring methods which may be required to prevent uplift due to flooding, or movement due to wind or seismic forces;
i) Corrosion protection of the system components or piping due to contact with the soil;
j) Tank systems for use with fuels other than LP-Gas.
