1 Scope

1.1 The requirements herein cover commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS), three-pole and four-pole, molded-case circuit breakers, molded-case switches, plug-in mounting adapter blocks/bases, and applicable accessories (undervoltage trip release devices, shunt trip release devices, electrical (motor) operators, and auxiliary switches) intended for use aboard non-nuclear, naval combatant ships in electrical assemblies (switchboards, load centers, and power panels) installed on shock isolators (mounts) or in non-nuclear naval hard-mounted electrical assemblies that do not have to meet shock and vibration requirements. The requirements herein also cover COTS molded-case circuit breakers, molded-case switches, plug-in mounting adapter blocks/bases, and applicable accessories intended for use aboard non-combatant and auxiliary naval ships. Successful initial qualification testing and requalification testing of molded-case circuit breakers, molded-case switches, plug-in mounting adapter blocks/bases, and accessories to the requirements herein shall constitute allowance of their use in applications described above.

1.2 The requirements herein cover COTS, molded-case circuit breakers and molded-case switches intended for installation in plug-in mounting adapter blocks/bases.

1.3 For alternating current (AC) applications, the requirements herein cover COTS, molded-case circuit breakers with electronic trip units. For direct current (DC) applications, the requirements herein cover COTS, molded-case circuit breakers with electronic trip units or thermal magnetic trip units.

1.4 The requirements herein cover COTS, molded-case circuit breakers that are adjustable as defined herein.

1.5 The requirements herein do not cover COTS, integrally-fused, molded-case circuit breakers.
