Abstract can-ulc-628-2022-en_abstract.html1 Scope
1.1 These requirements cover prefabricated fireplace inserts and hearth-mounted stoves for masonry fireplaces and appliances intended to be vented through the throat of a masonry fireplace. These appliances are designed for burning solid fuels such as wood and coal.
1.2 This Standard covers catalytic combustors utilized with fireplace inserts.
1.3 Fireplace inserts and hearth-mounted stoves as covered by this standard are not certified for installation in factory-built fireplaces within the scope of CAN/ULC-S610, or steel liner assemblies within the scope of CAN/ULC-S639, artificial fireplaces, or similar appliances (e.g., a tubular grate).
1.4 Uses are referred to ASTM-E1509, Standard Specification for Room Heaters, Pellet Fuel-Burning Type which may include applicable requirements.
1.5 Installation of glass doors to existing masonry fireplaces is not covered by this Standard.
1.6 The appliances covered by this Standard are intended for installation and use in accordance with the applicable Codes and Regulations as determined by the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), such as:
a) The National Building Code of Canada; and
b) CSA B365 Series, Installation code for solid-fuel-burning appliances and equipment.
