1.1 These requirements apply to companies involved in the servicing of halon 1301 extinguishing systems in accordance with the National Fire Code of Canada (NFCC), NFPA 12A, and the manufacturer’s installation, operation, and maintenance manual; and/or companies involved in the servicing of halocarbon and/or inert gas extinguishing systems in accordance with NFCC, NFPA 2001, and the manufacturer’s installation, operation, and maintenance manual. These companies might perform duties including the recovering and reconditioning of the halon 1301 and halocarbon clean agent.
Note: NFCC includes any Federal, Provincial, Territorial, or local legislation or regulations as may exist.
1.2 These requirements apply to the servicing, which includes recharging, maintenance, repair, inspection, testing and decommissioning, of halon 1301 and/or halocarbon clean agent systems and/or inert gas clean agent systems.
1.3 These requirements do not apply to the servicing of carbon dioxide systems or portable fire extinguishers. The servicing of Portable Fire Extinguishers is covered in the Standard for the Regulation of the Servicing of Portable Fire Extinguishers, CAN/ULC-S532.
