1.1 Scope

1.1.1 This Outline of Investigation applies to fuses intended for use as overcurrent protection in an electric vehicle power circuit where branch circuit overcurrent protection in accordance with the National Electric Code (NFPA 70) is not required. Compliance with the following is acceptable for use as a component of an end product.

1.2.1 The acceptability of an EV fuse in any particular Electric Vehicle depends upon its ability to be used continuously under the conditions that prevail in actual service. Accordingly, for a particular Electric Vehicle application an EV fuse may be affected by the requirements for the equipment it is used in, and it may be necessary to additionally evaluate features or performance characteristics that are not specified in this Outline.

1.1.3 This Outline applies to EV fuses rated 1000V or less, AC and/or 1500V or less DC, with interrupting ratings up to 50kA.
